Applied Engineer
About DualEntry
DualEntry is building the OS for finance.
Every business needs a financial system of record, yet the world’s largest fintech market ($220B+) still runs on software from the 1990s, with no new entrants in 30 years. DualEntry’s AI-native ERP automates accounting from data entry to close, so finance teams move faster, spend less and incur less risk.
In just 2 years we’ve raised $100M+ from Lightspeed, Khosla Ventures, Contrary and Google Ventures and earned the trust of customers from $5M ARR to publicly traded companies.
We hire outliers. We’re looking for people with a track record of accomplishing difficult things, whether through their careers or achievements outside of work. You’ll find leaders, colleagues who’ve competed at the highest levels of sport, performed on Broadway, trained with UFC champions and founded the country’s largest Python community - because that’s what it takes to reinvent a $220B industry.
Why This Role Matters Now
We got there by moving incredibly fast and hiring an exceptionally sharp, hard-working and deeply committed team from leading tech and accounting companies - Ramp, Meta, Microsoft, Lyft, PwC, Deloitte, J.P. Morgan, Bloomberg, Sage, Xero and Intuit. And some of us don't have a fancy logo on our resume and are here for a shot to prove ourselves.
We’re a small team, growing fast with huge momentum - join early.
As our Applied Engineer, you’ll embed on named customer projects and own them end to end — discovery, design, build, deploy and verify — sitting close enough to the customer that you see the problem before it becomes a ticket.
This is an intense, hands-on role with full ownership. We expect you to push for excellence and raise the bar.
📍 Location: New York City HQ, 7 World Trade Center
Where you'll create impact
- Build!
- Embed on named customer projects and own them end to end: discovery, design, build, deploy and verify
- Build migration and integration pipelines on Temporal that are idempotent, resumable, and auditable
- Model and load customer accounting data into Postgres correctly, including reconciling against their existing system
- Build internal tooling so recurring one-offs stop being one-offs
- Feed patterns back into the core product, and productize or hand off anything that becomes permanent
- Compress the path from “customer requested” to “shipped"
What sets you up for success
- Hardcore work ethic and high agency
- 5+ years shipping production full stack software, end to end and unsupervised
- Django and DRF, plus Postgres beyond ORM defaults. You read query plans and you have run migrations against live data with customers on it
- Next.js and React with TypeScript
- Durable workflow experience. Temporal preferred but Celery is fine
- Direct customer exposure on past experiences. You have sat with a customer, scoped the problem with them, and shipped against it
- Experience with third party APIs, webhooks, rate limits, reconciling two systems that disagree
Nice to have
- Accounting, ERP, or fintech domain knowledge: double-entry, chart of accounts, close, AP/AR, revenue recognition
- Prior forward deployed, applied, or special projects experience
- Judgment about when to ship a script versus build a system
Meet the Team
- Ignacio shaped the baseline of our integration framework from scratch in a single weekend, then spent most weekends - while coordinating the team - shipping what was never on the roadmap: webhooks, a search engine for millions of transactions, and Puma itself
- Marcin took a non-existent tax structure and built it end to end, setting the north star for how the team keeps improving it on top of it; modular and robust, always setting the bar for the rest
- Puhiza grew her team from one to full capacity, while owning our integration framework. The queen of I/O on our platform
- Danylo took ownership of our bank connection engine end to end and rebuilt it from scratch over a weekend
