Claude skills for
finance teams

Seven free .skill files that make Claude work like a controller — built for the close, the audit, and the board deck. Built by accountants, tested against real ledgers.

What's in the pack

Close-Readiness Scorecard: Reads your current and prior trial balance and grades whether the close is ready to lock across five dimensions — recs, accruals, flux, balance sheet hygiene, documentation. Clear verdict: ready or not, and what's in the way.
Flux Analysis Explainer: Runs disciplined variance analysis on any two periods and drafts the memo. Every explanation is labeled Supported, Hypothesis, or Open — it never dresses a guess up as a fact.
JE Risk Sampler: Screens your journal-entry export with the same test battery your auditor uses (SAS 99 / AU-C 240): period-end clustering, round numbers, Benford's law, user concentration. Run their tests before they do.
SaaS Metrics Truth Check: Recomputes the ARR, NRR, CAC, and magic number in your board deck from the raw billing and GL data underneath — and diffs reported vs. actual, with footnote language ready to paste.
Rev Rec Red-Flag Screen: Screens contracts and deferred revenue mechanics against an ASC 606-derived checklist tuned to SaaS failure patterns. Every flag is a routed question for your accountant, not an accounting opinion.
13-Week Cash Flow Builder: Builds a populated, direct-method 13-week forecast from your actual AR aging, AP aging, and payroll calendar — with three stress cases. Not another blank template.
Daily Close Digest: A recurring routine for close week: every morning it diffs the ledger against yesterday and drafts a fixed-format Slack digest — what moved, what's blocked, days to lock.

Frequently asked questions

What are Claude finance skills?

Skills are packaged instructions that teach Claude a repeatable workflow — the steps, guardrails, and output format — so you get the same disciplined result every run instead of re-prompting from scratch. Claude finance skills apply this to accounting work: the close, flux analysis, JE testing, and board reporting.

Do I need DualEntry to use these skills?

No. Every skill runs on file exports from any accounting system. If your ledger lives in DualEntry, skills like the Daily Close Digest can run against live data instead of exports.

How do I install a .skill file in Claude?

In Claude, go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload a skill, and select the file. It's available in every chat after that.

What's the difference between Claude skills and MCP?

A skill tells Claude how to do a task; MCP gives Claude live access to your data. Skills run on uploaded files. Connect Claude to DualEntry via MCP and the same skills run on your actual ledger — no exports.
